Ok… I had to read and then re-read this article about Tim Chapman and his arrest that was broadcast online on January 5th, 2008.
Over at the Aloha Update, Anthony writes the following:
For all of you who used to watch Dog the Bounty Hunter, Dog’s associate Tim Chapman, was caught at the Ala Moana Center in the Bank of Hawaii parking lot with his clothes off in his truck performing lewd acts. When witnesses contacted Ala Moana security, the security guard asked Tim to put on his clothes and get out of his truck.
Tim put on his clothes, then started his car, hopped a curb and almost hit the security guard. Now, Tim is charged on suspicion of attempted murder for almost hitting the security guard, and indecent exposure in a public area.What I didn’t know was that Tim had separated from his Samoan wife and had been living out of his truck.
When police went over to his Hawaii Kai home, they were told that information. But Brook Hart, Tim and Dog’s attorney, has said that this was an entire misunderstanding. Brook had stated that Tim spilled orange juice on his pants and was looking for a private place to change his pants. And when the security guard startled him, he panicked and drove away as fast as he can.
Oh sweet lord what is happening to this family. It doesn’t seem that anything lately has been going right for them and I can’t help but feel for them. I don’t know, I mean what on earth was Tim thinking… and why was he living out of his truck? You’d think he’d have made enough money to get an apartment or something - even after the split from his wife?

I think that being in the spotlight and seen on TV each week leaves the family open for it. I’m not surprised. I am surprised that Tim was “supposedly” living out of his truck. I feel so very terrible for Tim. My heart just breaks. Remember when they were arrested by the US Marshalls-and were released-Davina called Dog and asked him to please start going on hunts again because Tim was changing so much. This was probably the same situation, That he just wanted to be left alone-so he just stayed in his truck.
I believe him. I don’t think he was being perverted.

I was born and raised in Mililani and moved to Colorado Springs in 2005 where Dog and the family is a household name as well. As a matter of fact, I have been told that I live just a few streets down from Duane Lee Chapman II and frequents 2 local eating establishments in our neighborhood.
Let me start by stating my ethnicity here so people understand my perspective and my upbringing: I am Filipino, Portuguese and Polish. My father came to Hawaii from the Philippines when he was 8 years old. I am a deeply-rooted local girl.
I am starting with this because I really feel that local people in this blog is really coming out of left field here and is unnecessarily directing on ethnic commentary in all of this. As a transplant local, I am not offended when the family tries to talk “local”…I just view it as them adapting to better relate to the community. While I feel that the “local talk” constructs an uneducated view on the people in Hawaii- but it is a unique and distinctive part of our culture and the Chapman’s recognize this and utilize it to better assimilate to the local way of life.
I really don’t know where all the hostility from some of the local people in these comments is coming from. Is it resentment that a non-local made it big and is associated with Hawaii? Really, this attitude is what gives local people a bad name and paints a picture that local people are “closed minded” to outsiders. We are supposed to be known as a people of a welcoming and loving nature, but these comments are so disturbing because they are in fact bordering on racial insults. This is exactly what got Dog in trouble in the first place and what many of you condemn him for- but you are the doing the same by placing so much emphasis that the family is “haole” trying to act local. Don’t by hypocritical here. If Dog and the family were local, there would no discussion of this sort and certainly no comments as harsh as “fat pig”.
Let’s try to show that local people have some substance and not let ignorance talk for us by making unnecessary comments. Focus on the meat of the problem here. Yes, Dog made racial comments, but remember, this was in the privacy of his own home and was done to make a point to his son. This was not a racial comment that he did with the intention to hurt and demean another race in a public forum. I believe A&E went too far with cancelling the show due to this incident. Don Imus is back on the radio after making racial remarks, Michael Richards is making money hand over fist over increased sales with Seinfeld DVD’s and countless comedians are still out there working by making racial jokes. Everyone forgets that Dog has changed his life for the better and has helped people of many races. Now, with Tim…I have no clue with what happened here, but I am wondering if the reality of dealing with the loss of wealth and celebrity status has something to do his actions. The majority of us has never been in the spotlight and been scrutinized as the family has, so we have no idea what they are going through and what personal demons they are facing. We can only look to people like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paul Reuben to get some sort of perspective on the behavior.
Dog, I hope you and the family is working on a deal with a cable network so that you can continue your work and get drugs and lowlifes off the street to sustain Hawaii as a paradise. I say a cable network so we don’t have to hear unnecessary censors, the reality of the situation should be played out in its entirety. Remember, Bill Maher was taken off of Comedy Central and ABC because of his remarks and opinions and is now living on stronger than ever on HBO.

I thought I should step in here just to let you know why I let BETHISAFATPIG post here. I personally don’t agree. I also think that everyone is entitled to their opinion. BETHISA… hasn’t really backed up his/her arguement that well, and the commentors so far have totally got that. From the other site that this person has posted on - I personally think this is all to get us riled up.
Has it worked? Yup.
I think though, if anything it makes me more proud to run the site and know that there are people out there still support Duane, Beth, Tim right now in his most awkward situation - and know that even in the dark times there are people out there holding a light to show support.
We just need to let this one go. And get on with supporting the Chapmans.

I think you have hit the nail on the head BETHISAFATPIG. Why is he living in his truck and not with his “blood” brother Dog. I think once everything started to fall apart beth took everything away from them. Also while watching the show, beth has more say in the business than Dog (her money), he jumps when she says jump and he crawls when she says crawl. I truly believe that is why all of those men and women act the way they do around her (queen bee), because she has the money and they have to life with that issue. And she probably use it as a tool against everybody every time she gets mad.

This thing with Tim is mostly about a minimum wage security guard trying to get his 15 minutes of fame. Tim was changing clothes and nothing more. And Tim’s lawyer has pictures he presented in court that reportedly prove that Tim’s truck drove straight over the curb and did NOT veer to the side where the mall cop was allegedly standing. The guard’s lying folks. Straight & simple!

I just recently learned of what happened with Tim. I was curious why he wasn’t on the new A&E website so I checked around. I’m sooo sad for him….this family has been through hell but all will work out in the end. As for the person who keeps bashing this family. If you hate them so much go away. Besides are you a fucking 2 year old? Why not find an anti Dog site where you’re wanted. The people here care about this family and this show and deserve to be respected. I am so glad that Dog is back. I don’t care what anybody says, it is a great show. I don’t understand why people who say they hate the Chapman’s know so much about them. Why do you watch the show? I personally look forward to it coming on every week. Sure they have problems but everyone does. Maybe people should worry about their own problems instead of judging everyone else. Sometimes in families it seems like you can’t get a break.Also rumors go around that are untrue.To speak of the Chapman family this way is wrong.Duane {Dog]wears the feathers and others things in his hair for he is part Indian and proud of it.This family has helped the community,they try to give time with a positive message,spends time with the kids like football,somersaults,and just talking to them in schools.When is the last time you talked to a group of kids about life making theirs better? Dog and Beth have enough children and grandchildren.That they have room for more intheir hearts en\even families who have messed up.In todays world that is hard to find.The people in Hawaii love the Chapman family for what they stand and believe in You may want to try out.

I love the show except that at the end of each episodes they have to hug and kiss the scum they were just chacing and tell them how much they love them it’s enough to make you gag but other they that part great show. good luck tim

I wish Dog and the Family all the Best. Nobody is perfect and they don’t try to hide that fact. It’s amazing they even admit that. Sure his style and tactics are different but that’s how he makes a living, a respectable one at that. The only thing he should loose is the potty mouth. Nothing but love for the family, it’s tough being on camera all the time.

My name is Erin E. Seidemann just to let you know I have started watching the show since 2004 two years when my dad has become a judge here in Prince Rupert I have a learning problem since birth what i have is that one eye does not move, I have a 20% of hearing lose in both ears which means I have to wears hearaids none stops and the last thing that i have is that my brain does not work for well like my spelling and my memorary is not all that great. Everybody is different when you like or not I do not like to see anyone do any put down and it is not nice. I think BETHISAFATPIG should know that you have broke a big the biggset rule of all and that is you are not to use falese wintess on your neighbor. I will like to let you all know that I am sorry about Tim arrset and his family trouble and I will keep them in my prayers day and night and I will like to let you all know that I am going through some hard time right now with the lost of my grandpa last month the week before Christmas thanks you for your time.

To Dirk Dickler, making fun of Dog is one thing, making fun of someone that has obviously been facing some difficult challenges in their life is another. When you have to face some challenges in your life I hope people show you the same compassion.
To Erin E Sideman, Keep your head up. Things will get better, find your place in this world and you will impact many lives.
To everyone hating Dog, it you are so adimate about how bad the show is there is only one thing to do, Stop watching it. Does it make you feel like a bigger person to get on a website that is supposed to be fan based and trash people? I know that the world will continue to suffer from the immaturity of some. I just hope for their sake one day they will grow up and realize they are wasting their own time as well as everyone elses. No one cares what negative people have to say because they have nothing to contribute to the world.
To Tim Dog and the rest of the Chapman family, I believe that you are truly amazing people. The joy you bring to so many people will not soon be outmatched. Tim, Muhammid Ali once said that even the greatest have to suffer sometimes. No one is perfect, it is how we learn from those imperfections that make us great.

I love the Dog Family and I believe they are doing good in this awful drug infested nation!! Beth is her own person and is looking quite beautiful since losing weight even though she was beautiful before, just a little loud in her clothes! I hope everything turns out okay for Tim. BETHISAFATPIG hey u say the chapmans dont care about people i guess u dont watch there episodes when they arrest someone they dont beat them down and then take them to jail like the cops do they treat u like a human being they talk to u listen to u try to help u they get u something to drink or eat last time i checked the cops dont do that for u i think your jealous of them if beth keeps all the money how does leland pay for his nice house that he lives in or or how does he make his hummer payment if u dont like them dont watch them hey ghost hunters on sci-fi is on the same time slot as dog theres something for u to watch instead of dog i think u need to get a hobby one more thing if the chapmans dont care why are they always going to schools and events and talking to kids about staying in school and out of trouble beth is looking alot better i have to say she working out and losing alot of weight u go girl

Igrew up in law enforcement, Dog and his family do a great job. My heart goes out to Tim, I believe his story. As for Beth, I think she is a very smart LADY that holds the family together.
