Over at KXLY they’re reporting that more training is needed for Bounty Hunters. In Washington state, a bill has been passed where more training is necessary for the very dangerous job of being a bounty hunter.
But the problem is that many of the agents simply lack training. Right now, recovery agents can get a license after four hours of training. The new law would require a minimum of 32 hours.
Agents would also have to report directly to the Department of Licensing every time they enter a home by force. Washington state Bail Bonds manager Thomas Dixon supports the new law, saying he’s seen agents in the past disregard the rules to look for defendants. Thomas Dixon says more training, which includes civil and criminal law review, custody and transportation issues, firearm training, and exercising real-life scenarios, is needed.
I’m glad that they’re putting this in place - not only will it help those who decide to become bail bondsmen and women - and where they’ll have the training to stay safe and play it smart. It will also help keep things on the up and up for the criminals who are arrested by the bail bondsmen and woman. I think all round - a very good idea.
